captionPIC FROM MERCURY PRESS (PICTURED: CARLY JONES, 35 WHO ALSO HAS AUTISM) An autistic mum-to-be has forced a childrens charity to suspend an offensive autism awareness campaign that puts a volunteer in a glass box for 50 hours in front of Tesco customers. Alexis Ragaliauskas claims hundreds of autistic adults have been insulted by Caudwell Childrens Locked in for Autism campaign, which asks a volunteer to live inside a glass box for 50 hours in front of the public. But the 35-year-old mum-to-be believes the challenge, apparently hosted in Tesco stores across the UK since 2015, recalls an out-dated metaphor that recalls historical experiences of autistic people being locked up and restrained.Alexis launched a petition demanding the dehumanising campaign stop and Tesco cease hosting it, which was signed by more than 1,500 people so far.
