TEEN KILLS MOTHER AFTER GETTING KICKED OUT OF SCHOOL
26-08-2024
2024
True Crime
It's the story of: Sydney Powell and her mother, Brenda Powell, were described as the best of friends, with a close, loving relationship. But that all came to a brutal and bloody end on March 3, 2020 in the Powells' Akron, Ohio home. Brenda was on the phone with deans from the University of Mount Union - where 19-year-old Sydney attended – after Brenda and husband Steven just found out Sydney had been kicked out of the school because of bad grades. As she cahtted on the phone, Sydney viciously attacked her mother with a skillet from their kitchen and stabbed her mother with a kitchen knife. When police and paramedics arrived Sydney had gone into a catatonic state and tried to claim and intruder broke in and would only say over and over again: “Get out of the house, get out of the house.” But detectives quickly realized Sydney was the killer after dad Steven revealed she’d been kicked out of school and blood footprints inside the house matched Sydney and no intruder. Sydney was admitted to a psychiatric ward and was later diagnosed with schizophrenia but she was still charged with murder and a jury found Sydney Powell guilty of her mother Brenda’s murder. She was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years.
