This is the heartwarming moment a missing three-year-old is reunited with her delighted family in South Africa. The tot had gone missing from her aunt's home in the Thembeni area of KwaDukuza on the afternoon of 21st August. Mum-of-two Samantha Chagaka had left Anita and her nine-year-old sister with their aunt before leaving for work in Ballito early that morning. But Samantha's sister, who also had work that afternoon, had left the girls alone at home later that day. Local councillor Sicelo Sithole told local media: "When she got back home and asked where Anita was, the nine-year-old said she was not sure." A massive search by members of the community was in full swing a short while later and lasted late into the night. The next morning, the worried-sick family received a call from the authorities to tell them Anita had been found. IPSS Search and Rescue official Marinus Nabal told local media a teenager had reported seeing Anita, which had narrowed down the search area. The missing girl was eventually found cold, hungry, and thirsty in the bush about a kilometre from her home. As she cannot yet speak, no one is sure what happened to her, but the authorities say she was found unscathed. Nabal said: "When we find a child, I cannot explain how uplifting it is. It is a weight taken off because you anticipate finding a body." After being reunited with her elated family, Anita was taken to a clinic, where medics gave her a clean bill of health. Samantha said: "I am just happy my baby has been found and she is safe and sound. I just want to take her home and be with her as much as I can." (T4/ends)
