A notorious female serial killer cult leader and a black widow who murdered her rich hotelier husband are said to have become romantically involved in prison. Cecilia Steyn, dubbed the 'Krugersdorp serial killer', was the leader of a fanatical group of killers she led in a bid to exterminate members of a church congregation. Steyn, now in her early 40s, was jailed for life at the Sun City prison in Johannesburg after a court found that she had gone on a revenge rampage after being rejected by the church, with her and her accomplices found guilty of 11 murders. She has now reportedly become romantically involved with Suretha Brits, who hired hitmen to assassinate her husband, Leon Brits, a wealthy hotelier, for his money. The body of Leon Brits was found in the swimming pool of one of the properties he owned in the town of Pofadder, in the South African province of Northern Cape on 7th October 2020. Suretha Brits, in her early 30s, is serving a 25-year sentence, with local media saying that the pair immediately hit it off after meeting at the women's prison. Local media also reported sources as saying that the pair are inseparable. Brits will be eligible for parole in 2031. (T4/ends)
