captionStory from Jam Press (Raccoon Saved) Pictured: A video grab of two officers saving a raccoon with a jar stuck on its head. VIDEO: Raccoon with jar on its head saved by police A raccoon with a jar stuck on its head is set free thanks to kind-hearted cops. Bodycam footage shows the officers approaching the stricken animal. It has a discarded food pot wedged around its head. The black and white animal can be seen struggling to pull the jar off his face. The officer bends down and takes off his glove. He then begins to gently twist off the pot. Within seconds it pops off and the raccoon scurries away having been set free. The rescue took place in Sandusky, Ohio, US. A Perkins County Township Police spokesman said: "Protect and serve took on a little different meaning while Officers, McDermott and Waechter, were getting gas. "'Bandit' the raccoon can be seen running up to them with a jar on his head. "Officer McDermott successfully removed the jar and Bandit runs away. "It’s often asked what is a typical day in law enforcement, and here’s proof that there is no typical day. "Great job to Officer McDermott and helping one of our 'residents'." Local Douglas Hatcher said: "Hey I live there. Good thing that it wasn’t a skunk." Cate Reich said: "I crush jars and cans before I throw them out just because of this." Gayle Schultz said: "Protecting and serving the entire community. "Great job officers." Sharon Collins said: "The little critter went up to cops for help. "They obliged. Happy days." Angela List said: "Well done, good job they came across it and were able to help it."
