Wacky People
Meet the woman who has managed to become a talented powerlifter despite suffering from nasty seizures. Michelle De Jong, 24, from Utrecht in the Netherlands, was diagnosed with a functional neurological disorder in 2015 after she began to suffer from spasm attacks in her upper body, axial myoclonus jerks, and loss of strength in her legs making her unable to walk. After spending just over a year in a wheelchair, Michelle started to do strength training with her physical therapist which helped her regain her strength. She eventually joined a gym and began powerlifting as she was inspired by bodybuilders she saw in the gym.
