This is the moment a hungry lion shows up at a Saudi family’s home as they prepare a religious meat feast. The incident took place during the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha to honour the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismael as an act of obedience to God's command. The sacrifice was later replaced by a lamb. Muslims around the world often sacrifice an animal, usually sheep or cattle, while two-thirds of the meat is given away to the poor and needy while the other third is eaten by the family. It is unclear where in Saudi Arabia the footage was taken. According to the newspaper Al-Bilad, the lion showed up at the Saudi family’s home on 31st July just as they were slaughtering their Eid Al-Adha sacrifice. In a Snapchat post, Haitham Khaled explained that his family was stunned when the lion appeared on their outside wall. Khaled said: “We came to slaughter our sacrifice and we just found this lion. He joked: “I don’t know if it’s a lion, a lioness, or a tiger!” Khaled added that the family’s sacrifices usually only draw interest from local cats and dogs. In the footage, the hungry lion is seen perched on the family’s outside wall before appearing to lower itself into a neighbour’s property. It is unclear where the lion appeared from or what happened to it after it was spotted. (T4 / ends)
