RESCUE CHICKENS SAVED FROM DEATH BY ANIMAL LOVER NOW LIVE LIKE PAMPERED PET DOGS IN LUXURY FARMHOUSE WITH PIX AND VID By Robert Firth An animal lover who saved two rescue chickens from the brink of death now lets them live with her in her luxury farmhouse - and sleep with her and her fiancé. Roosters, Bart, three, and one-year-old Mitchell enjoy snuggling up with their owner Jenny Lewis, 36, in the bed she shares with her 33-year-old partner Sam. And when they’re not lounging around, the lovable little and large duo enjoy scoffing McDonald's whipped cream puppichinos and binging on episodes of Love Island in the confines of Jenny's and Sam’s house in Montgomery, New York. Their mollycoddled existence is a far cry from their former lives, Bart having been left to starve to death before he was adopted by Jenny and Mitchell having been offloaded on to her by a breeder after he was born in an area where roosters are forbidden. Jennifer, who is a store manager, said: “My friends can’t believe how much like a dog or cat they are. “They’re energetic and they have full run of the house. Mitchell will pop in and watch what I’m doing “They will throw tantrums if we leave the room. They’re mischievous and get into trouble. “The other day Mitchell jumped on the kitchen table and wouldn’t get off. “We watch TV together and as soon as me and Sam sit down, they want to be on the sofa with us. “Bart gives a little wine to get me to lift him up. “Mitchell is more mobile, and he will hop up to the sofa or jump up to our bed by himself.” Jenny rescued Bart from a neglectful owner in Spring 2018 and initially feared the rooster, who had lost both legs to frostbite, wouldn’t pull through. But through painstakingly nursing him back to full health and hand-feeding him, the plucky rooster eventually recuperated and was soon after joined by Mitchell – who Jenny bought for $20 [£15] from a man who hatches chicks in an area it is illegal to own roosters. The pair now get to feast on treats like berries, nuts and cheese and have free rein to explore Jenny's and Sam’s house in homemade nappies to avoid any unwanted surprises. Despite showing ever more interest in each other, Bart and Mitchell are currently kept separated when Jenny and Sam aren’t around to prevent any squabbles about who really rules the roost. And house chicken advocate, Jenny, shares regular updates about what the troublesome two get up to on her Instagram page @lipstick_and_chickens where she has racked up more than 20,000 followers. Jenny said: “They have a strange relationship which we are building on. “Mitchell likes to challenge Bart, but Bart is older and bigger. “They’re super clean and the only task I have to do is change their diapers – it's like having two babies. “They’re affectionate and they will peck my hand softly to show their love. “Everybody in town knows me as the crazy chicken lady “I’m glad my future husband loves them as much as me.” ENDS
