DRAMATIC MOMENT WILD OSPREY CATCHES GIANT RAINBOW TROUT ALMOST THE SAME SIZE AS HIM FOR BREAKFAST WITH PIX By Iain Watts This is the moment a wild osprey bagged himself a killer breakfast, snatching a rainbow trout which was nearly the same size as the hungry bird. Wildlife photographer, Steve Laycock, 56, from Bolton, Greater Manchester, snapped the impressive catch at Aviemore Loch in Cairngorms National Park. The passionate snapper who has been photographing wildlife for the last 40 years was hiding by the calm waters from 4am ready for the osprey to come and collect their breakfast. But even he was left stunned by the size of the catch this majestic predator escaped with. He said: “The loch is filled with rainbow trout and the osprey know where to come for a free lunch. "The size of the fish they are picking up is almost disproportionate to the actual body of the bird. "You almost don’t believe they’re going to be able to take off because you can see them struggling to lift the weight of the fish out of the water. "It’s very exciting to watch but you don’t get the real thrill of it until you go back and look at the photos because you been watching it through the camera lens. "When you look back at the photos and realise you’ve got a good picture it’s very satisfying knowing that you’ve captured that moment." ENDS
