STUNNING HUMMINGBIRD PIERCES WATER DROPLET WITH ITS BEAK WITH PIX By Lucy Harvey A hummingbird has been caught mid-air with a water droplet on its beak. This impressive action shot shows the green and grey bird's beak piercing the water droplet. It was taken by Bibek Ghosh, from California, US. The hummingbird was snapped at a water fountain located in Ardenwood Historic Farm, Fremont, CA. He said: “The gardens around this Historic farm in Fremont is a very popular birding site. “In one corner of the farm there is a water fountain where the birds come for a drink or to bathe. “While waiting at this spot for the warblers and the other migrants, I saw this endemic hummingbird species exhibiting some very interesting behaviour. “It swopped in had its drink and then was playing in the fountain as if to catch a water droplet. “Luckily I managed to position the camera and found a suitable background to make the image. After several frames, was able to get this “Making a donut” image as I would have captioned it.” ENDS
