Hurricane Hanna: Woman Sobs Over Loss Of 100yo Tree

This footage shows a Mexican woman's tearful goodbye to this 100-year-old tree which was wrenched out of the ground by Hurricane Hanna. The category one hurricane wreaked havoc this Sunday across northern Mexico and southern Texas, with winds of up to 90 mph and dumping up to 18 inches of rain in isolated spots. The woman, identified as Claudia Lozano on social media, lives in the town of Garcia, in the northeastern Mexican state of Nuevo Leon. Claudia shared the video of the huge walnut tree, which she says is 100 years old and measures 10 metres (32.8 feet) high and 2 metres (6.5 feet) in diameter. The heartbroken netizen shared a touching post saying: “I feel immense pain because we love it so much and since I came to this beautiful municipality of Garcia N.L. and I saw this immense tree that I fell in love with, I said to my husband: "here I want to build our home where our daughters will be born and grow" and so it was. “And then tonight during this storm, I only heard how my tree fell and how it thundered when it fell, how if it cried the end of its days. I cannot believe it! It was a tree so big and centennial that its roots after so much rain and with so many years of life could not hold it.” The video has been seen over 130,000 times and Claudia has received many consoling comments from social media users. Social media user Juana Espino wrote: “One gets used to what they have and we become attached to our plants and trees as if they were part of our family. I am very sorry for your loss and I know there are no words now that can comfort you. Resignation.” Hurricane Hanna has claimed the lives of at least four people in Mexico, whilst many others are missing and hundreds have had to abandon their homes due to the heavy flooding.
